Welcome to 100 Voices of Florida hosted by Lab 3 Productions (“We”).
100VOF organizes seasonal skill-based screenwriting contest (“Contest”) solely for Floridian filmmakers. The monetary award for winning the Contest will be $1,000 USD (“Prize”). Only one contest will be run at a time, following the seasonal calendar, listed directly on 100vof.com (“Website”) on the Contest page. Unless otherwise specifically described, each quarterly Contest will follow the same rules in which an interested participant (“Entrant”) shall fill out and submit an application form by November 24, 2024 at 10pm ET. The application form requires the Entrant’s first & last name, phone number, email, a brief description as to how the Entrant will be using the prize, a brief description to the Entrant’s connection to Florida, a PDF to the Entrant’s original screenplay, and a non-refundable application fee of $20 USD. An “original screenplay” is defined by a film that has written solely by the Entrant(s), completed development, and is needing the funds to begin or complete the three stages of the filmmaking process: pre-production, production, and post-production. The Prize is awarded to the script that is selected by a panel of judges with professional filmmaking experience. Names of Entrants and descriptions as to how the Prize will be used provided by the Entrant will not be included in the judging process. Each Contest has an opportunity to have multiple winners. For every 100 submissions, the judges will select another winner. Winners, who accept the Prize, are able to use the Prize as they choose given that this Prize is unrestricted.
Eligibility: Each Contest is open to all filmmakers who are U.S. Citizens, 18 years of age or older, and establish a connection to the state of Florida at the time of entry. We encourage filmmakers to be currently residing in Florida, as well, but it is not required. Winners may be asked to show proof prior to receiving the Prize. The completed short script must submitted in English. Submitted scripts can be entered into other contests or competitions, such as film festivals. Currently, there are no requirements to when the script was written. Adaptations are ineligible unless the underlying rights are owned by the Entrant or the work is in the public domain (Entrants may be asked to confirm the aforementioned). We reserve the right to amend these requirements at any time.
Rules: Contest submissions are only accepted via electronic submission found on the Site on the “Contest” page or FilmFreeway. Once the deadline has passed, we will no longer accept applications. The total page count for submitted scripts must be between 5-15 pages. It is highly recommended scripts have been proofread and we encourage original material to be submitted to registered. The entrant must own all the rights to the script(s) and the submitted script must be original. All scripts submitted to the Contest remains with the original rights holder. Any submitted script that is under or over will automatically be disqualified. Cover pages are allowed but personal information will be redacted from the judges view. At this time, Entrants are allow to submit more than one script but must submit an application form and $20 USD fee for each one. TTo minimize complications, we discourage films submitted by a writing team as we likely will not be able to split the Prize. The Prize will only be awarded to the Entrant’s name listed on the application. Entrants are expected to stay on top of their inbox as communication will be primarily sent through email. Winner(s) may be asked to submit proof of eligibility, such as government issued identification, release form and affidavit to receive funds, film-related paperwork, sign a document stating the Entrant will included our logo (that we provide) in the opening credits for at least four seconds that will read “Supported by 100 Voices of Florida, learn more at 100vof.com”. 100VOF is reserves the right to modify deadline and announcement dates at its discretion, as well as to revise these rules at any time.
